Cards, yours and mine

This is Sarah's:

Colour's a bit yucky, result of night time photo with flash... I like the floral border thought. I doodled flowers and leaves in a red card & cut them out and assembled them together. With a little more TLC it might turn out into a stamp, who know?

Forgot to post this one, another Valentine Card

I came to the conclusion that the previous card  was a bit too minimal for a little boy, so at the last minute I made the one above. I popped the speech bubble over the digital paper in PSE, printed it and stuck the mouse over it. Easy peasy!

Girl with Fairy Wings

This one is inspired by my daughter, I have a photo of her with a similar pose to which I added wings digitally.

I used her for a birthday card, but I thought it would also be suitable for first communion cards too, if you removed the wings. There's also a variation with a scalloped hem.

PaperPlay and a new image

Sandie has a sketch for us this week, and I made a card for my daughter who is eight today.

It is my first easel card, they're so easy to make and cute. I used an image I've been working on, there's a couple of things I want to fix and then I'll have it for sale.

My teammate Kate used a MamiDoodles stamp, doesn't she look cute blonde and wearing blue&brown?

Colouring the hearts in the same colour as the shirt gave a lacy effect to the dress, I love it!

Mr Bee's Party

The kit includes the 4 images in jpeg, png format. Also if you don't use any graphic editor, there are PDF files, for printing in one of two sizes, 2.5 inches and 1.5 inches. I think they're look cute in the tiny 1.5 inch size but they'll print great in 2.5 inch too.

The kit also include a coloured Valentine card topper.

Mr Bee was created for my husband's birthday card (see post below).  I think the kit can be used for birthday cards and maybe a hello, thinking about you or valentine card. The one below is the my last Valentine card, I might give it to my son, the mouse one will be given to my husband and of course the girly will be my daughter's one.



I know most seasoned cardmakers can make half a done cards in a blink, but believe me it is a great output for me, and no time to rest as I haven't got a birthday card for my daughter 8th birthday which is Saturday week. And as for my brother-in-law, he might have to way till next year for a handmade card.

Honeybunch, honeybee & honeypot

This week's challenge in PaperPlay was to make a birthday card for someone special.

I had my choice, as my husband's birthday is in the 9th and my daughter's in the 20th. Besides my sis in law got married last February. Guess when is her husband's birthday? Yep, February again. Adding this to a friend's birthday on the 18th, it is a birthday filled month.

In the end, I did my husband's card first:

 

We call each other (sometimes) honeybunch. When the kids came along, I nicknamed them honeybee and honeypot.

I had seem some minimal cards somewhere- lots of white space, a few small embellies and text underneath - and decided to emulate it. The bee is a drawing of mine, I'm giving it some final touches and it will be for sale tomorrow.

I really really get a big kick everytime I see that a card or a project using the Mami Doodles digis. Here's what my PaperPlay teammates Liz and Kate made.

It couldn't be more girly, with roses, pearls, feathers and lace - perfect! Also notice that she used the background paper in the Girl in Pyjamas kit.

Love is in the Air

Here's my entry in PaperPlay Challenges last thursday. The challenge was set by Sandie: Love Notes. Some of my teammates used this stamp and the Mr Mouse in their entries, go and check it out.

Learning as I go - Introduction

As you might have noticed, cardmaker I am not! I am a wanna-be who likes to draw, use pretty paper and the computer.
Back in May last year, I made a "pledge" to make a card a day. It didn't last long, but I got bitten by the bug, and that lead me to start drawing again. And colouring again. Starting today I am going to start to share what I have learned so far, links to useful sites, some card/stamp/blog that I found in my surfing time. And, being a digi/hybrid girl, some tips on how to use digital stamp, papers and the likes will come to.

Today I am going to show my colouring kit.

 

1. Letraset Promakers.  There are people that love Copics and there are people that love Promakers. They are alcohool based so they don't smudge when colouring a inkjet printed image (*) and there are excelent quality. I choose Promarkers because they are considerable cheaper than Copics.

(*) it depends on the printer/ink. You might still run into problems depending on your printer, but I think most of people don't have any problems with Promarkers or Copics.

 

2. Watercolour pens. Because I had then anyway. I use whenever I want a little bit of texture instead of the even wash that a marker does. Don't brush with water unless you are well away from the printed outline of the digital stamp.

3. Black pens, various thickness. Great to add extra detail.

4. White gel pen. For highlights.

5. Diamond Stickles. For a little bit of sparkle.

6. Chalk inks. I don't stamp much, but I always use them to colour the edges of paper.

7. The basic/can't do without them: my computer and my printer. I don't have photos of them, my laptop is like the ones below, with a purple cover. I'm so delighted with it, it was my Christmas present for my husband *love it*. My husband too. Ehehe.

Since January is over - I've drawn a number of my hat (virtual hat, that is, random.org was used) and the winner was entry #3, who happens to be my PaperPlay teammate Liz!

Playing with my new stamp

I had some time to play with my newest stamp this weekend. I didn't use it for Valentine's card - one is meant for my daughter, her birthday is in February. I am not sure if it is going to be a card a mini-image for her to put on her desk.

This is a Thank You card, the background paper was given by Vicky, my Secret Santa in last year's Cara Craft Supplies forum, and the stamp by Julie, who was my Secret Santa in 2008.
